In the 19th century, the couple Willet and Holthuysen lived in the impressive mansion located on the Herengracht. The house is a showpiece on its own, and the interior was carefully picked to showcase their wealth. After the couple died, they donated the mansion including the collection of artworks to the city of Amsterdam, for it to become a museum. Now you get to see the spectacular house with the beautifully decorated rooms, and get a taste of what it was like to be a 19th century elite.
